Canon SX110is - display shows dark when turning camera in portrait position

Hello,

Hopefully i choose the correct place to put this question.

We have a weird issue with our Canon SX110 camera. When shooting a picture there is a clear preview in the display as long as it is hold in landscape mode. When the camera is then turned into portrait mode, the display becomes alsmost dark and unreadable. When turning back to landscape, the display undims and becomes clearly visible again.

Could not find any info, maybe someone has a hint.
