Not sure if this is really the place to put this, if not, please move it. My Windows based laptop decided to die, so instead of buying a new Windows based laptop, I bought a MacBook with OSx (Snow Leopard). So I am in the process of reloading software but for whatever reason, this MacBook can't read the Canon software disks even though the say Macintosh on them. Has anybody encountered this? Is there some way to get the software from another source?

Nope. Loaded both the versions that came with my XTi and the newer ones from the T2i into my iMac (bought new last Summer) with no problem at all. You can probably download the latest software from Canon directly.

Unless you are going to be shooting tethered to the computer you honestly don't need to install the canon software.

Canon DPP is worth at least trying as a raw converter. Some swear by ACR and some DPP, and some of us use both for different things, but it's worth having the option.

I want to load it mainly for DPP.
