Canon UV filter + AF = Problems...

So I was messing around with my Canon 50mm 1.8 lens today taking some pictures of wall fixtures and noticed that the imges were a bit blurry. I switched over to manual focus, advusted the focus, and took a picture and then compared it with the AF shot taken and there was a huge difference. Having read the latest posts on here about filters I decided to take my filter off and try it out. I took some shots with AF and they turned out very sharp. So for some reason the filter is messing up my AF... Anyone ever had this happen? What can I do besides just leave the filter off? My filter is a Canon UZ HAZE filter by the way.

you sure you didn't just use the wrong AF points the first time?

Use only the center point and see if you can work it out. I know my 50 searches or screws up the focus sometimes...

I was using only the middle focus point when I tried it the first time.
