That's an intense game!
I thought this was only something that happened in movies. I've never in my life seen people playing chess in a park outside.

I don't like how the composition looks so far from the action. This looks a lot like it was taken at full zoom. Fair enough it keeps you from distracting the game and catching the moment but it's not very involving.

That would only darken either the VERY top of the frame or you'd end up darkening the center man with the hat. I wouldn't go for that filter here. Fill flash would be a better idea to brighten the faces or some Photoshop love.
