Some years ago, after the death of my Dad's cousin, I discovered my great uncle was an amature photographer. When going through the house, we found some of his stuff, including a stack of 5x7 glass negatives he made.

This a scan directly from one of his glass negs, so you're seeing a first generation image. Apparently, he tried to mask out the surrunding background to hide the casket. I have no idea who this is.

Thats kind of creepy. What are the others like?

cooool....... how interesting to go through some really old negatives.... this ones a good find, thanks for sharing.

There are something like 70 or 80 of them... most are mediocre portraits with a few shots of area landmarks. I haven't gone through them all yet.

This one caught my eye when when I saw it had been partially painted with some sort of black, opaque material.

He lived in downstate New York near the Hudson.
