I've been reading posts about c/p filters, and that a cheap one is worse than nothing. Also there is the coated question. I'm a dlsr noob on a budget and looking at 67mm polarizing filters for Nikkor kit lenses (about $120). Are there any good polarizers available for a lower price, or should I just wait until I can get brand name equipment? What is your experience? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Tom Beard

Google for HVstar. They have treated me right in the past and have generally excellent prices. I will say they haven't always given a good break on shipping & handling for multiple items, but that doesn't sound like your problem.

Look for a multi-coated surface coating if affordable. I tend to like B +W and Hoya brands, but that's a personal opinion thing lacking in any objective evidence.

I do not know what is good for cheap...But Singh Ray is the best.

Cheers, joe

Very little cheap is good. Tiffen and Hoya are okay if you buy the multi-coated lines. If you can afford it, B+W, Heliopan, Singh-Ray and Lee.
