I can't make much comment on the smiles but I can about the pictures.
Note the differences in the skin color; the different white balance.
Clearly the one on the right is much 'colder', more blue.

If you warm that picture up (warming filter), it becomes more charming and enjoyable - and probably more natural.
I also suggest you crop it to a standard format - that makes it easier to print and to frame.,

Thanks for dropping by n your feedback.. Actually I purposely desaturated the pic on the right. But I guess it looks better with original. =)
 
I think desaturation is a tricky and trendy thing and the deaturated images I have seen that worked the best have been more complicated where the clothes and the environs give the desaturated image some context.

In this case, the picture didn't look as good to me when compared to her natural vitality.

Of course, if it looks good to you, that is what counts.
My opinion is free and worth every penny.
