This is my first panning shoot.... and I figured out pretty quickly it's really hard!
I shot with a point and shoot... they came out alright.

suggestions for next time are greatly appreciated.

Was your point and shoot on a manual setting? or automatic?

Automatic. Pretty sure it doesn't really have a manual setting, ahaha.

it does let me (kind of) focus on what I want, though....

I'm not familiar with the Sony (I assume thats what you were using?)
Many PS cameras have a manual setting as well..
anyway..

Like you said, it can be difficult.. #2 and 3 are nice, but the rest are to blurred.
I like the last pic, its cute.

Panning an animal is very difficult to do, even with the best of cameras.

You are attempting to track horizontal movement, but most animals also have vertical movement with their stride as well, which is just going to create blur all over.

For a P&S, #'s 2 and 3 didn't come out too bad at all, considering.

thanks, everyone. I'm going to keep on practicing.

I didn't really consider the vertical movement at all -- thanks for pointing that out. Thanks for the advice.

Not bad for a first try and keep up the good work. I have a red nose myself and I know it is hard to keep up with them with a cam.

Number 1 is pretty good but the focus is on his torso, would have been a killer shot if it focused on his head.

Edit: I realize thats not always easy.
