Copy and paste?

How do you copy and paste on photoshop???? i cant do it to save my life....i tried to use the clone stamp even and it will just now work for me...al help is appreciated..

You need to select an area of an image to copy from using the marquee tool.
Then Edit>copy
then select your new image and Edit>paste

Should have added - cloning is completely different to copying and pasting.
Don't get the two confused!!

Copy/paste automaically puts the pasted selection on a new layer where it can be moved, rotated, etc.

so if where i copy the image and hit paste does it give me a second copy on top of where i pasted? i thought i tryed that and when i went to remove, it turned white like a blank canvas again

Ctrl -C will copy a selection
Ctrl V will paste it on a new layer.
You must have been 'cutting'
