I think I prefer the warm tones of your colour photo to the colder colour temps in your duotone ... a monochromatic image is an interesting aspect but I would then have left that one "warmer", I guess. But maybe it was absolutely your intention to render this second version as cool as it is.

I quite like how that fence catches the light and reflects it ... was the countryside as red already with the sun still that high up?

The countyside was actually that red due the way it was filtering throught the clouds. As for the second one, I like the wintery look it gave me.
