A few days ago, a co-worked showed me this article about a portrait photographer in Germany named Paul Ripke: Paul Ripke man babies: Mum and dads switch heads with children in freaky photos | Mail Online

She thought the images were cute, and said that she wanted to find a local photographer that could do that for her and her son. I dunno, to me it's really creepy. Is this a new trend? Has anyone else done anything like this?

PS for anyone who prefers not to follow a live link, the same article can be found by googling "paul ripke photography", the article was the second result.

There is a saying about Photoshop...Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Not doing anything for me. But if they are buying them go for it.

Shoot well, Joe

Freaky creepy pics! Too weird for me but some must like it!

LOL, thanks for validating my opinion :)

I am in no way a portrait photographer, so I was wondering if I'd missed something, after all those photos were popular (or shockworthy?) enough to get them into a magazine.

I don't think I'd ever buy them as family portraits, but I do think it's super cool.

I don't think that most photographers could pull it off that well, his style, and post processing really make it look neat. He is clearly quite good with photoshop, and hey, if it makes you money, then why not...

OK... The adults with the baby heads look OK. Cute, I guess.

The babies with the adult heads just don't look right...

Here's what I think-
A baby's head still looks normal 'up-scaled'. An adults head looks stupid 'down-scaled'.

I think he made all of the "babies" heads (adult heads on baby bodies) way too small.

He is clearly quite good with photoshop, and hey, if it makes you money, then why not...

This is true, I do wonder if it will be a "flash in the pan" type of money maker, though. Trendy for a while, but not something that lasts.

And yes I totally agree, 0|||||||0 - the babies head are way too small! Very disturbing, I think.

I think it gives an interesting perspective on life and age. I actually think they're good, the expressions are awesome. I don't think the intent was anything otherwise.

Some of those are done pretty damn well. Yes, very creepy. And YAY for them finding a niche market! I hope they do well!

But yes, some are pretty damn creepy...

Ok, showed them to the wife. She was completely creeped out by them. Her vote is definitely creepy!

Maybe some people get portraits done every year or maybe even more often. Even if something is fantastic, repetition can result in boredom. I'm sure it had been a client who asked him to do it first, then word of mouth advertising began.

These seem fun, not really creepy to me. Some times ya gotta switch it up.

Think of getting your characterture drawn at the fair.
