What are some basic photoshop cs5/lightroom3 retouches that are relatively easy to do?
Ones that you do to almost every picture.

Shoot in RAW - Single biggest factor in getting the most out of post processing.


CS5
Try to use Non-Destructive Layers for everything:
Unsharp Mask
Potentially needed cleanup like Healing Brush, Spot Removal, Light Cloning, Content Aware Fill, etc.
Levels and Curves Adjustments


LR
Sharpening
Setting White Balance
Playing with Basic Sliders
Lens Correction (Auto)
Color Profile (Auto)

Anything else is usually image specific.

CS5 and Lightroom 3 share the same parametric Raw converter/editing application - ACR 6.

Of course CS5 then has it's own workspace where layers/blending modes, and a broader choice of selection tools can be used .
