Any Nikon D300 users? I feel like a total idiot not being able to figure this out....but I just got my hands on one for a really great deal - friend of a friend estate sale. It was being used with a Nikon SB 600, which is exactly what I have. My 600 works perfect on my D90, and I just tested it with my BIL's old D200. I cannot figure out what setting I must have wrong in the 300 -- it will not let me shoot when I have the 600 in the hotshoe. When I connect it to the hotshoe, my settings (aperture, etc) immediately disappear on the top panel -- instead, it shows the flash in the top right corner. If you attempt to take a picture, the flash on the LCD will start flashing & you cannot take a picture nor will the flash go off. Any ideas? Going through it appears everything is set up properly, but perhaps I'm just seriously missing something! I uploaded a pic to show what I'm talking about.

I appreciate any insight - looking forward to posting more in this place :)

First off, perform a TWO-BUTTON RESET of the D300. Press and hold down the two buttons that have the same color-coded ancillary markings. See the MODE button, with the red writing? Press that button in and hold it, along with the "other" button that has a red ancillary marking. Hold those in for like 30 seconds, to re-set the camera to factory defaults. See if that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion!! I just tried it but doesn't seem to help.

Just tried using it off the hotshoe using commander mode & it wont work that way either. It's clearly trying to make a connection because in that way, the front red lights on the 600 light up if you attempt to shoot.

That's the sequence to format the CF card.

To reset to factory defaults press and hold the "QUAL" button and the exposure compensation "+/-" button for 2 seconds.
