D3100 need to reinsert the battery to work

I have a problem with my D3100.


I insert a battery, the camera works.
When I turn it off and back on it does not work.
I take out and re-insert the battey, it works again.


Any suggestions?

Is it a Nikon battery?

Check to make sure the battery is actually sufficiently charged.

Have you looked at, or cleaned the electrical contacts on the battery and at the bottom of the battery compartment?

How long have you had the D3100? Is it new? Did you buy it used? As the above post asked, is it the original (or replacement) Nikon battery?
