D50 kit lens versus D70 kit lens

I've got the Nikon D50 kit lens on my D50. I was wondering if it's considered an "upgrade" if i got the D70 kit lens for regular all-purpose shooting? How much better is the D70's kit lens versus the D50's (in terms of image quality)?

Let me know your thoughts. And how much does the D70 lens cost approx. in CAD$?

I'm taking a few guesses here but don't the focal lengths overlap? Like the D50 kit is 18 - 55 (I have that one) and the D70 is around 18 - 70? Personally... I wouldn't buy two lenses that overlap that largely unless one was really garbage which I don't think either of these would be. I'd sooner go for a 55 - 200 but that's just me.

Then again I plan on getting the 50mm prime as my next lens so I might be completely full of it.
