D5200 and Sigma 18-250 Macro HSM

I use a D5100 with some 3rd party lenses, like the Sigma 18-250 Macro HSM. This lens works well with the 16mp sensor, but I wonder how well this lens, works with the the 5200 and its 24 mp sensor. Specifically, are the optics suitable for the higher resolution of the new sensor?.

If there are issues, are there any sub $1000 third-party lenses that match well with this high-resolution camera?
