de-haze anyone?

Dehaze could be my new favorite feature of LR. I have been using it (sparingly) on all my edits. But check out what it can do at full power! Pretty impressive. In both these shots my lens was totally fogged (I had just come from inside)

Takes significantly less time to fix an image.

Here's a shot I did year year shooting directly into a setting sun:

you can see the amount of sliders I had to fool around with.

Here I made virtual copy, cropped it, used dehaze and pretty much just touched the WB, exposure, and shadows. I was happy with the image at this point and compared the two. Pretty damn close and I wasn't necessarily trying to match my previous edit, I just wanted to use dehaze:

when I compare them, they are pretty close like I said, but the dehazed one has more clarity...look at the guy's face:

pretty nice slider, which it was positioned back up with the rest of the main sliders and not under effects.

Where exactly is dehze. I just recently transferred from Elements to LR.

It's on the CC version of LR. If you have the stand alone version you won't have it.

Actually it's in pretty much editor I've ever used. The reason a photograph usually looks "Hazy" is that there is no true black or true white, only gray. Find the darkest area of the photograph and set the black point there. Find the lightest area of the photograph and set the white point there. Adjust them as necessary to get the right contrast. No more haze, no magic, no Lightroom necessary.

I don't think I could achieve the same results in my above examples with black and white point adjustments. Even with the clarity and contrast adjustments I couldn't achieve this good of results. [emoji2][emoji6]
