Okay my photography course requires me to have a 100% operable camera that is mechanical.

On the bay I found a seller selling a Nikon FM plus an FM2 plus a 35mm 1.8 plus a 35mm 1.2

He was selling the whole deal for £240, the condition is mint and the FM was serviced and has a new shutter.

Now, my school wanted me to have a 50mm.

Did I still get a good deal? What is 35mm used for usually? Was it a good idea to buy both cameras, I was thinking like maybe one can be a backup.

The entire first and first half of the second year is about film photography so...

thats not a bad deal, id say. average, more like it. those two lenses arent half bad; very fast. 50mm is the standard focal length for 35mm, hence why they want you to get one.

What kind of Photography is 35mm used for? Street?

The Nikon FM is worth around $50USD the FM2 around $100USD

The lenses are questionable as there is no such thing as a 35mm f1.2 or 35mm f1.8

However the mistake probably means he has a 50mm f1.2 (worth $375usd), or a 35mm f2 (worth $200usd) along with a 50mm f1.8 (nikon only made f1.8 in 50mm)

Thanks, I just looked at the pictures you are right one is a 50mm 1.2 and the other one I can not identify. If it is a 50mm 1.2 indeed then I got myself a very very good deal. Unless it is fake of course!

Sounds like you found a steal!!

The early model 7 bladed 50mm f1.2 sells for $300-375 depending on condition, the later 9 blade version can sell for over $400
