In my opinion the first is with out a doubt the best, and is a great shot. 2 is strange with the skin, its cool, but doesnt do it for me.
Care to explain the technique?

Is this the Lucis art replication technique? i use that a lot. I personally like the third one the best, the only thing i would add is watch out for those dreaded lines you can see on the man right arm, where his shirt meets. The more you edit certain photos, you start to get those line appearing, i find its mostly where dark meet really light.

There is a weird purple cast on the arms. I think it looks cool, but it's obviously way overdone. I don't think I'd use it for anything more than a gimmick.

lightroom is pretty sweet but it doesnt do everything.
I still use photoshop cs3 for more advanced editing.
