Difference between two Tamron 18-270mm lenses?

I'm looking at all round lenses and trying to decide which I would rather purchase.. I found two tamron lenses that seem pretty similar, can you please tell me the difference and why one is more expensive? Also, which all round lens would you recommend for my Canon 1000d?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the 2nd lens looks to be the better one to me, why is there such a big price difference?
