    Hi All,
Thanks for taking the time to read. I just photographed the members of my church (40+ people) for our directory and some people also wanted to buy prints. Keeping in mind the majority of the church is elderly and probably aren't on-line. Would you have proofs printed of two of the photo's to give them an option to choose, or just pick the best and order the prints for them?

It would seem to be a crazy amount of extra work to allow them to pick and they're paying me as a professional, but I know that some people would still like a say. What do you think?

    Thank you,
    Brian

You're the pro, aren't you? If you let them know they have a choice, human nature dictates they will want to pick. If you tell them, "Congrats, this is your image! You look lovely here, Mrs. Smith. How many copies would you like, and in what sizes?". Problem solved, money in the bank.

A printed proof is fine. Just send them a proof of the best pose. If they want it great, if not, you are only out a few cents for the proof.

This might be a wacky idea, but how about getting a small book made up (many sites do that pretty cheaply) with photos of everyone in, and offering those for sale...

It might go down really well...

Um, I think that's the point of the church directory. The OP is talking about additional prints.

Are you sure most aren't on-line? Many are. Try asking for emails or send a link to the proofs to the Pastor. Then have the Pastor forward the link with your pricing and contact info. Try putting a link on the page to download an order form with pricing and your contact info. You could also send an order form, then see what comes about.
