I am taking photography at Fanshawe College in Ontario, and I have been given an assignment to cover the history and features of the automatic diaphragm. I have read about eight books and have been relentlessly searching online for any info, but it is very limited. I would greatly appreciate any knowledge, or any sites that anyone knows of that has any more details on the history of this great feature. Thank you so much!
ps. its due tomorrow morning, 9 am. lol....

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I believe you will find that there will be very few people here that will help you with your homework.

Auto diaphragm (shutter priority) has been here for at least 50 years. Canonets have it with their leaf shutter.

Then there were SLRs in the 70s which were also Tv and Av and a bit more sophicticated, since you'd have to close down the aperture and open it up back again. It was mechanical and done by a lever.

Now the apertures are electromagnetic and controlled electronically.

The only useful link i can think of is the camera history museum.
