Doms school. Stop and Go CC needed

This weeks assingment for Doms class is to basically stop something that is in motion as well as take some long exposure shots. Here are my attempts.

OK, im having problems with my stop motion photos as I stated in a differnt post, I got my speed well above 1/2000 and still couldnt get it done. I had my best success with the camera at 1/200 and a flash, I will figure this out, but this is what I have so far. The extended slow shutter is something that I have enjoyed for some time, but I re-did some shots just for this assignment and like the way they turned out better than my originals.

I have to say, #2 is making me laugh... It looks like the bird on the left is falling off the bird feeder or floating in mid air... totally weird I would say you definitely did a good job stopping motion there

I'm not quite sure what you were trying to do in the last 2 pictures?

the last two he's painting with light for the long exposure portion of the assignment.

AWESOME, I freaking love #5. Nice creative use of a long shutter.
You have some good drawing skills, I would have a heck of a time doing that with a pen and paper
I also like the way you accentuated the dinos face with some lighting, but kept it under control as to not bleed on the rest of the frame.

With #4, be careful when capturing moving objects in regards to your composure. The first part I would comment on is the fact the dog is running out of the frame. Try and give the subject more room to move so to speak. Also you have the dogs path dead center, trying playing with different regions of the frame for framing your subject.

For the stop motion, I prefer #1, I only wish it had a little less motion blur. But the action you caught is pretty good, with the landing and all.

No rush, I haven't attempted it either


I wish I could shoot at the school I'm currently in. I have been training on a 3 story concrete firehouse everyday, fighting all kinds of awesome fires. But the interior of the building is black/burnt/industrial. It would be awesome to take photos there. Not to mention all the action shots and firefighter candid s that are possible.

Here are some updated bird shots from yesterday. I was able to get underneath the feeder and wait on the birds to fly by. YOu wouldnt believe how many pictures I took to get some of these pictures, maybe 300 or so? Anyway I had a ton that were just tailfeathers.

And then there were shots like this where the Ap # wasnt high enough to get the bird in focus. I could use a different ap but I was having trouble keeping my ISO low and shutter around 2k. THis would of been a great shot of this fench had been able to use f8 or 9 and not 4.

I had full contrast on the second pic above but got to thinking this may be a better photo. THis is pretty close to the original regarding the contrast. Which do you prefer?
