Yea, its a Canon lens. So no more complaints that we only give away Nikon gear
Manual Focus Canon 70-210 f4 macro zoom. it is in great shape.
we dont have a Canon camera now so I cannot say in any recent timeline how the actual functionality is.
aperture ring works good, zoom works good, glass is clean. everything LOOKS good. thats about all I can say.

the criteria for getting the lens is as follows:
1: you NEED this lens, meaning you DO NOT already have this focal range or reasonably close. (my call)
(having a sigma or tamron and saying you don't like it doesn't count)
2: you already have a camera capable of mounting this lens (no putting the cart before the horse)
3: you live in the continental united states (im a stickler on this one, sorry)

You all know how this works at this point. (I hope)
we are DONATING this lens. It is FREE to a good/needy home, and is sent AS-IS with no guarantee or warantee, written or implied of ANY kind. we will pay shipping. continental U.S ONLY.

ALSO I am not familiar with what Canon lenses will mount on what Canon cameras...(love our nikons) PLEASE make doubly sure that your camera will mount this lens BEFORE asking for it.

Thanks to O Hey Tyler, I am now aware that this lens is an FD mount and will NOT mount to cameras post 1987 without a FD-EF adapter (doesnt appear to affect IQ) Please be aware of that before requesting this lens.

j/k. I think it's great you keep doing this!

Yay a canon lens! I have never owned a manual focus lens so it would be cool to try and learn to use one. Currently only have my rebel xti, 18-55 kit and a 50mm 1.8. I would like to give it a whirl!

*drool*

I love doing close-up work (examples in my blog), but I'm limited to my 18-55mm lens.
I have a Canon Digital Rebel, so this should fit.
I live near Seattle.

Wow. What a generous donation. I'd be very happy to have such a lens! Please consider me. :D

Also a FD mount lens. So it will not mount on a DSLR without an adapter. This is still very nice of you to do, Pixmedic. Just want to make sure that any potential recipient of the lens is aware that it won't mount on any DSLR without special accommodation.

we Appreciate you looking at these for us and making us aware of the mounting limitations..it will of course, be up to the candidates to decide whether or not they want to mess with an adapter or not for their DSLR. unless they have a film camera with the FD mount. Don't know if an adapter will affect image quality or not.

I don't believe the adapters to harm IQ, just limits the lens ability to focus to infinity. As a personal disclaimer, I have not used an adapter to mount an FD lens on either of my EOS bodies. I just am aware of them and have done some reading.

I actually do have an AE-1 and a 50mm 1.8, so I am kind of interested in it. However I have a lot of other digital gear than a lot of people (not to sound douchy) so as interested as I am, if someone wants this lens to use with an adapter on their digital gear I would like them to be considered first. This could be a good way for one to get a decent telephoto for the price of an adapter. If there are no takers, I wouldn't mind the extra lens. ;-)

Thank you, Tyler. I hadn't thought of that. *derp* But, I checked on ebay and the adapter is about $30, so it's still doable for me.

my dad owns and runs a jewelry company; he designs the jewelry, has it made, orders and pairs the stones together, is he webmaster of his website, and creates advertisements for his jewelry.

the creation of the advertisements involves photographing his pieces, for which he uses a Canon XT with some macro lens, not sure which.

i used his camera a few times, and i noticed that the macro lens he uses is not very good, and i think that this lens would help him a lot with taking better quality photos of his jewelry. i'm gonna start working for him in a few weeks, and i'll be the one taking and editing the photos, so better pictures would make editing them easier.

Buy the adapter. This isn't a macro lens though. Just because it's 210mm doesn't mean it will focus closer than the macro lens he has. Keep that in mind.

You may have seen my work, pixmedic, and noticed most are wide. Landscapes are what I enjoy the most, and have a hard time not capturing a sunset I like.
I own a nifty fifty and a Tokina 11-16mm. The number of times I'd wished I had a longer focal length than 50 can't be counted on two hands - most recently a few days ago.
I've been drooling at the 70-200L, but being a student comes with a cost... Well, several costs actually ;) buying a lens isn't a spontaneous thing for me, it must be planned months in advance.
This lens is perfect for my needs. Manual focus is no problem - I'm almost always on a tripod. I really love vintage gear, and use often an old Oly rangefinder - and with an old Yaschica rf in for repair. Bottom line, I will appreciate its age and its (mystical) history and use it very often.

With that, I hope you consider my plea for this lens. It's perfect for a need that I've felt growing with each photo trip. The adapter would be no problem for me to aquire. I'm trying to sell my 40D and get a 5Dmk1, but the lens would ideal for that setup as well.

Regards,
Anders

ive seen some really great shots you have done compaq, and I would definitely like to see all of our lenses go to someone that will appreciate and make good use of them. you would qualify there for sure....I dont know if you read the whole OP *CAREFULLY* but, Norway MIGHT be a little outside USPS flat rate shipping range. (OMG i love Swedish girls) plus, being an older lens and all...the shipping might actually cost more than that old thing is worth if you have to buy an adapter for it too. and just for a little self promotion, I posted some pics I took a few weeks ago in the hopes that someone can give a little advice on a lighting issue i was having with high noon sun. Thread probably got buried.

I would add that a customer was inquiring about old canon glass on new digital bodies, being unfamiliar with canon I asked my boss, she said you can use them with adapters, however in her opinion if they are not pro glass it's not worth the effort. Reasons being that the adapters are expensive. The good ones. Upwards of a couple hundred bucks. She also followed with saying there are cheaper alternatives other makers toss out there to buy for around thirty forty bucks, but they are not worth a chit and often cause damage to the electronic leads on the camera bodies.

This was stated to a customer not just me. Obviously she wants to sell gear, but she always gives them the truth in the matter to better help them make an educated informed decision. The customer was buying a new canon T3i and wanted to use his old canon glass, which is how this conversation started. He was already planning to buy the camera anyway and just asked about his old glass nearing the end of the sale.

I have no experience on the matter, just thought I'd share what I overheard from a customer and my boss, and it was not recommended to use the cheap generic adapters.

Ahh, how could I have missed that??

Good luck with the donation!
