DSLR or P & S

Please forgive me if this has been asked before.

But, everytime I hang out with friends or go to a bar, party or whatever. I'm always struggling with the question.....Should I take my SLR or P&S. Although there's many great photo ops. I like to have a good time and not worry about my camera, so usually the P&S wins out.

I'm curious as to what you all carry when going to a casual friendly function.

I've long passed the time when I would put camera first and comfort later... the camera I carry has to fit me. As such DSLR is rarely with me during casual functions. On most cases, I don't mind carrying rangefinders. If not, I have several options to choose from..

Panasonic TZ5 - Good IQ for a P&S, nice range.. pocketable.
Panasonic LX3 - high end features, Fast glass... wide angle. Fun camera.
Olympus E-PL1 (recently acquired) - light weight.. not really pocketable but better IQ than P&S's.
