This thread made me wonder about something:

OK, I load my own film from a bulk roll... I've noticed that on my bulk loaded rolls (loaded to 36 exposures) there is much less unused film on the end of the roll compared to factory rolls.

From the last frame to the spool, I have maybe 2 inches of unused film. That seems like about the minimum possible.

However - on factory loaded rolls, there is much more unused film. Probably enough for an additional 3 or 4 exposures if I had to guess.

Is there a way to make the camera (I usually use a 1N RS) go past 36 exposures? Can I just tape over the DX code? (There is also a custom function to ignore the DX code, but I think that only applies to ISO.)

If I just use non-DX coded canisters (or tape over the DX code) would it just automatically rewind at 36, or would it let me go past that?

I'm just kind of hoping that someone has tried it and knows... Otherwise, I'll do my own tests.
