After watching mom take off, I made some adjustments to the camera. And then waited. About 2 hours for her return. Glad I did.

When you shoot birds against the sky add +1 to +2 ev compensation to properly expose the underside without adding the noise you get if you adjust shadows in editing. You should be happy with the results.
Are you using back button focusing?

Thank you for the tip. Take all I can get. Honestly don't remember if I had switched yet. Made a lot of changes in the last month. I am now using back button focus. Took some getting used to. Which do you prefer?
