Any idea what its real name is?

Cool bug- looks valuable/gold-plated. Could lose some of the flower on the bottom. Very nice shot.

Coolest insect ... and a thread with the world "emerald" in its title will, of course, make me come and look! And it is worth the while, no doubt, Tim!!! The macro is very nice, too. While I agree with Walter (abraxas) that the yellow part of the flower is a tad distracting, I wouldn't quite know how to best crop this, provided you want to maintain the general ratio of prints ... for I quite like the tad of off-centredness of the bug here!

The crop certainly helped, i must admit i didnt think it would if i kept the print ratio the same. And Corinna i really have difficulty putting things in the center, and agree with you so much that it is difficult doing anything else but yeah you and abraxas were right . Well at least i think so now .
