Emerald Isle Shore Bird

I shot this photo while vacationing at Emerald Isle, NC. This is the first time I had a zoom photo turn out this clear.

How much zoom did you use for this one then - and is this a crop after all? Put through USM (unsharp mask)? Nice one... you may well be proud.

I think cloudwalker used digital zoom here - pixelsare visible and the chromatic abberation is visible as well... but it's a very nice photo! I've never been so close to the pigeon!

Mentos, digital zoom is another option that I did not think of, so you might be right here (I switched that option off on my little camera that has got digital zoom, the outcome was all unconvincing).

And hey, as to the bird as such: the beak suggests this is a gull of sorts, no pigeon. Wouldn´t you agree?
