Encounter with a bobcat at Muscatatuck!

I was heading into a wide mowed path near Discover Pond at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge. About twenty feet in, I saw movement and turned slightly to look. To my amazement, about twenty feet away, a bobcat was looking right back at me! Ever so slowly, I brought up my camera and took a couple pictures before it turned and headed back into the woods. A once in a lifetime experience!

What a great experience! He looks a little big for a bobcat, but maybe because there is nothing else in the photo to compare to.

It was probably about 30-40 lbs so right about the size for a bobcat. I think we were both really surprised to see each other, but I stayed very still and quiet as not to spook it away before I could get a picture.
