I've got a few month old Canon T3i that has worked great till this morning...and I'm getting ready to go to the zoo! AAARRRGGGHHHH Anyways, it works just fine with my 18-55mm lens but when I switch out to my 55-250 I get the Err01 message that the camera can not communicate with the lens. I've cleaned the contacts and made sure none were stuck down but still no luck. I've also removed the battery with the same results. When I try to change the aperture settings it says F00 and "no lens attached". Anything I've overlooked or is it time to have a lens replaced....both lenses were bought new with the camera for christmas... The lens worked just fine when I used it about a month ago and it's been stored in a secure hard case since then.

Did you clean the contacts on both the lens and the camera body?

If that does not solve things it means you'll have to send the lens in for a check-up. Hopefully its a manufacture error/problem and thus covered under warranty.

Would I be better going to Canon directly or checking out a local Canon dealer?

I'd go to Canon directly. Depending on where you bought the camera, dealer might give you hassle about it. However, call Canon before sending it in, they might run some over the phone troubleshoot.

    Good Luck

Thanks for the advice....I ended up dropping it off at my local Canon dealer and they shipped it to canon for warranty work before I saw the phone numbers. I'll keep my fingers crossed I don't get screwed around to bad.
