Every time I go somewhere...

I don't believe museums or churches ban cameras to protect their postcard sales. They ban them to protect from rude, inconsiderate photographers..

Postcards has nothing to do with it. Churches rightly feel that flashes going off disturb parishoners. In a church that attracts tourists, even picture takers can be a problem for the regular parishoners who wish to pray or meditate in a quiet environment with no distractions. Moreover most of the tourist shots are poorly taken and won't turn out anyway.

Museums however have no valid reason for banning cameras.
