Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I was just trying out some extension tubes today with the 50mm 1.8 and took some flower pictures. Size of flower is approximate to that of a dime. Shots where done with window light only. C/C Welcome

sorry, noob question. What's an extension tube and what does it do?

its a metal tube of varying lengths that goes between the camera and the lens. My extension tubes are manual and can only be used with a lens that has an aperture ring.

bump with some more photos from this shoot.

I really hope I can get some feed back on these I think they turned out really well but i'm sure they could be much better

The dof on that isn't that shallow.

When you say super shallow DoF I think of images where the immediate foreground and background are blurred around the subject like this:

Just zooming in on a subject doesn't make the DoF shallow.

You can actually see the DOF in this shot. It's that narrow strip that's in focus going across the surface of the table. Taken with a 85mm f/1.8 lens at f/1.8 on a Canon XTi. This was just a test shot I took after I got the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM lens last week.

That 1.8 aperture is amazing. Right now the biggest I have is 2.8 until my 85L gets here tomorrow. I can't wait to see what f/1.2 looks like! That will be a totally new world for me... 2 stops past 1.8, I can only imagine with that razor thin like I see in your pic.

ok so the title was off a little. How about some C/C on the photos themselves?

My friend got the 85L recently and has been having fun shooting with it on his 5D classic and 1D Mk II N (and making the rest of us jealous in the process). Very sharp lens and yes, the DOF is really thin. He said the nickname for that lens is "The Keg".

Oh yeah...sorry.

The first three don't do much for me. The pink leaf is okay. The flowers in the last shot is the most interesting for me.

thank you for the comments I like the last one best myself. I got to thinking that maybe the scale of this image is throwing off peoples thoughts on the DOF. So I took a picture of a NIKON 52MM Lens Cap real quick the same way I took the picture of the leaf and the first few pictures.
