I'm shooting mainly outdoors in daylight, if a lense has a max of f/4.5 will i have trouble getting good exposure on iso 200 film? i would imagine using a tripod would take care of this problem for the most part, but i take the camera hiking etc. and don't always want to have to take a tripod.

so i guess the question really is, should i stick to lenses that have a wider aperture range?

In daylight, f/4.5 should be more than enough. When you really need fast glass is when you're in low-light situations, or looking for shallow DoF.

Shooting under low light outdoors (shaded areas like in forests) ... and handholding ... I use a tripod.

I hike Algonquin Park a lot (well used to) and I always carried either my Manfrotto tripod or the monopod.

You could spend the money on faster lenses ... but it can only gain you about 2 maybe 3 stops ... but the cost may be extreme !!!

thanks, i guess lugging the tripod is better than the extra money of the lens, especially since i am on a budget :meh:

thanks for the advice
