some told me to check it to this when i asked them if they were licensed a nd i mentioned that i was not.

does anybody know much about this?
i heard alot of people get licensed this way...

i suppose this is the same as a DBA?

Yes a DBA, (Doing Business As), is pretty much the same as a fictitious name. here's a good place to start: http://www.sba.gov/smallbusinessplanner/start/nameyourbusiness/index.html Start reading and when you're done, read some more.
