Congratulations on the camera! I am curious to know what you think about it when you get it.

Good for you! A nice sharp 85 millimeter lens is a wonderful thing to have!

It's like 1986 all over again! Full frame and no zoom lenses!! Those were the days. I used to carry two 35mm cameras with motor drives, a 28mm/2.8 a 35/2, a 50, an 85/2, a a 105/2.5, and a 135/2.8, and a 200/3.5, and a flash. Weighed only 18.5 pounds in a Tamrac shoulder bag--except today the Z- series are better, shoot faster, and focus automatically! And will shoot far more than 36 shots before reloading is necessary.

18.5 pounds! Geez!

When I had my D800, I had the battery grip, and the 24-70 2.8 & 70-200 2.8 and I traveled that way.
One day, I bought the DF and the older AF 35, 50 & 85 primes. Loved it! I honestly fell in love with shooting and traveling that way, despite the inconvenience or not being able to zoom. So that's carried over to my Z6, but modern. Crazy, but I love it.

85mm lenses: left,85mm f/1.4 AF-D: middle, 85mm AF-S G series , far right 1980's era 85mm f/2 AI-S.

Derrel,
Check out my signature! My 100% prime days lasted one weekend. I realized how bad I miss my Z 24-70mm F4 S. So it's back at the house now and the 35mm & 50mm are being returned and banking both. I love the 24-70 that much!

I have read some very positive reviews of the 24 to 70 lens!

The same three lenses but with all of their lens hoods attached and from a different angle. It is interesting to note that the old 85 mm f/2 was just slightly larger than a 50 mm f/ 1.4 and just almost identical in size to the classic Nikon 35mm f/2 AI-S. In fact, the 35/2 the 85/2 are so similar they look to have been built on the same barrel, and at a glance are tough to tell apart.

As you might guess, I'm a fan of Nikon 85mm lenses.
