And Alex's newest pics are once again so incredibly sharp. Must be because he keeps the sensor of his camera in pristine conditions at all times, or might he have better glass than I have???

I'm still not done with my Hamburg pics, right? Not to mention Lüneburg, the heath, Bremen, the canoe trip, the ice-cream parlour, the bye-bye dinner ... :roll:

Will see what I can do in the course of the day... just stay tuned, all of you.

After Alex had become quite, quite intimate with the swans on the tiny part of Inner Alster in Hamburg, taking this...

...photo (among many others), he was a bit shaken by their friendliness and beauty and maybe also by the smell of their ... erm ... "guano" (some of which is still sticking on his coat), so he had to hold on to something for his further photography!

But no worries. A little lecture on good photography by Hertz put him back on track soon.

Chris, however, ...

...feels like he is on the top of the world, once we all reached the Old Warehouse District (Speicherstadt), with its many, many little bridges across the canals ("Fleete").

And who cannot but do after Chris?

Almost Sky-high.

Speicherstadt-impressions:

And on the way from Speicherstadt to the New Harbour City this:

Thanks to the "Magellan-Terrassen" in what has been finished of the New Harbour City already everyone could sit down and take a rest!!!

What we saw then disappeared a little in the grey haze of the day ... I had so hoped for sunny weather and a clear blue sky for our Hamburg excursion, but ... the weather was only the first of many flaws in the planning and organisation :roll:

Alex is licking his lips already ... it's not that he gained his 3 kgs here because we had to force the food down into him...!

My attempts at a bit of nighttime photography after our dinner failed considerably

And I DID use my (flimsy) tripod! But I now think that the bag I put into it for more stability shook - and I did not realise.

Plus that I do my own image hosting .. I scale down the images, re-sharpen a bit and then upload them, knowing that what I upload will not be modified by any third party in terms of size and compression.

And here I am - using Flickr for the first time - and have to find they apparently DO modify my pics, for they look sharper when I go through the folders right here on my computer. I'm quite a bit disappointed now.

Are you all OK with me making a photo book out of all your pics on here (plus commentary, of course!) for Heike as my thank-you present for her helping me so much?
