First attempt at black and white C&C

Decided to try see how well I could do with my first shot at B&W without reading any tips or anything before hand.

Were you using the Monochrome mode in the camera ?

No, I just kinda got the idea of B&W when I was messing around with it in photoshop.

Very underexposed. Shadows are black, and the snow is very gray.

You should have read first! lol! Very dark.. underexposed~ What are the whites? it is all grey or black....

Brought the whites up into the high 240s

Unfortunately, it is also a boring host.. no interest. There is no subject... just a bunch of trees in the snow. What is the story? What does it mean? How is the viewer going to connect to it?

Damn, I didn't even realize how dark the whites were until you guys pointed it out
I know I should have read first, but I tend to like trying to figure things out on my own, first.
And yeah it's a pretty boring shot, not composed very well. I was just really happy to wake up to some snow this morning and decided to mess around a bit.
