Some more information would be great. To me, it looks very over processed. Is that what you were going for? Way too much contrast, saturation and sharpening.

I agree with Gaerek. Here is how the pic looks with reduced contrast, reduced saturation and a little softening of the background.

What was the aperture? The dof is REALLY shallow, and the infocus eye but oof eyebrow just seems weird looking. Too much contrast and sharpening as well.

It looks to me like the point of focus is actually on the corner of the dog's mouth.

I took my older son out for some practice pics today...practice in PSE that is. Whatcha think? I'm sure there are problems but its my 1st day using it!

The second one is slightly overdone, but i cant tell what it is that is overdone. It might be the contrast, or the clarity or sharpness. Just something seems overdone.

I think the clarity is overdone. Sometimes, a softer image isn't a bad thing....
