First attempts at focus stacking

I really wanted to try this with a bee or other insect but very hard to find anything in Toronto winter. So I scoured the house for something interesting. Ended up taking apart my wife's dried rose arrangement, she was not too happy, and found some coral and shells from a Cuba trip.

Really like the first one! Focus stacking looks very good, and the color of the flower contrasted against the dark background is gorgeous!

I feel your pain with not being able to find many things to shoot in the winter.. I'm just over the border in Buffalo and can't wait for the weather to break!

Very good first endeavors. I do like the dried roses as subject matter. Your lighting is very crisp, and reveals a lot of texture, so it is easy to see the deep DOF that you achieved through the focus stacking.

Thanks guys. I first shot the dried flower in the arrangement, pic 3, but found it was too bunched and I couldn't isolate it. So I had to take the arrangement apart. The single Rose is much better.
