First couple of shots with the 50d

So I just got my 50d 2 days ago, and yesterday I decided to make a trip out to the airport. I noticed a couple of things. I seem to be underexposing my photos. I had the XTi before the 50d. Anyone else had similar experiences? With the XTi, I would shoot to blow out just a small bit of highlight areas, and they were always perfect exposures. After trying that with this camera, it seems to not be quite the right exposure. Anyway, it's awesome. I love it. I am 6'4" and I have rather large hands, and the 50d feels like a camera, where as the XTi felt like a toy.
