Finally I bought my first macro lens, sigma 150mm. Being first time using a macro lens, the DOF on the lens is shockingly narrow. Many time been put on to practise this lens and finally these are the so call usable one. Please let me know what do you think. These images shot on a very cloudy day with just natural light.

Thanks for looking.

Pretty good shots. Better, in fact, than a lot of beginner macro shots I see. Have fun and keep shootin'!

Hey, thanks for your lightning fast reply :)

Thank you, PinkDoor :)

Very good for first time, really nice soft light. I would suggest using a tripod (with slow moving insects) or looking into a flash setup so you can keep the small aperture and don't have to push the ISO so high.

Thank you for your valuable suggestion Bio. Tripod was used when taking those pictures and I am definitely looking for flash for macro. Any suggestion for the best flash?

The problem with tripods is they don't stop subject movement and are useless if there is only a tiny bit of wind.

Many people take amazing shots with the cheapest flashguns available, and some people take crappy shots with massively overpriced macro twin-flashes. It all depends on diffusion. Search the internet, there's millions of examples of flash diffusers people have made. Look up: Lord V, Dalantech, kurt (orionmystery) and stephen (Steb1 on flickr) they all have amazing work and post examples and turtorials of how to build their diffusers.
