First portrait attempt...please critique

Hey there, This is one picture out of about 50 I took. Just curious to see what people think. The lighting may be off, among other things, but gimme your 2 cents. I'll have more coming later on.

i agree... first thing i thought was "woah, strange eyes"

but i like the ligthing and angle you got there.

Thanks everyone! Thats actually my ex-girlfriend. She let me do a few of these the other day.

As for the eyes, it is kindof a weird look in her eyes on this one. I've got a bunch more, I'll submit more later on. I want to do a little work on them in PS thought first.

Still learning the composition and post-processing for portraits.

Nice portrait! I do love the eyes. The shadow over the lower part of her face bothers me, though.

Ya those eyes are freakin me out man! I almost think maybe the liner is a bit much? Lighting looks good albeit just a tad dark for me, could be my monitor though.

thanks for the comments! Actually she put on a little "extra" eye liner for these. I was going to shoot for converting to b&w and thought a little extra might be ok. I'll have to see if I can get her to try again.

I better not show her this thread though!!! :lol:

Like the others said, her eyes are too strong. I'd also soften the shadow on her chin and move her hand away from her sholder, it's rather distracting.

Otherwise its very good.
