I would say this is more of a artsy type shot more then a portrait. Pretty sharp shot though!!!

Actually it looks more like a police mugshot. When doing portraits, just watch the focus on the eyes. For nearly all portraits this is the one point which should be sharp as a tac as the eyes are what conveys most of the meaning of an expression and thus the photo.
