Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
This is my first attempt at any type of portrait shot, and I thought my baby cousin would be a good choice. Any and all constructive criticism is appreciated. BTW This was using my Nikon D40 and my sb-600 flash.

I know they need a little cropping, but anything else?

BTW: I haven't done anything to these pictures, yet.

I wouldn't say cropping...
I'd say you cropped too much with your camera if ya know what I mean. Where's the rest of the girl's head?

I like em though...good job.

what lens are you using? and what settings did you have it on

i think they are very good pictures, very nice, i love the Abba type thing where one subject is face on and the other is on the side. however the girl is out of focus and shes very importatn to the picture. a bigger DOF would be good

regarding the first picture, very nicely focued. but i reckon it would have been good to get the rest of her head. and as a general rule, if the subject is looking somewhere, in this case looking to her left, you should leave some space there, as in give the subject some space to look into.

perhaps somebody can explain that better than me,

I understand what you are saying, i was using a nikkor 55-200mm 4.5
And i plan on picking up something nicer if this becomes a serious endeavor.
But considering Im only 15 years old anything nicer is WAY out of my price range.
