Some quick advise on using a flash. Typically I shoot outside, but in preparation for Christmas morning and other indoor events I bought a flash. I hate to shoot in Auto, but to get lighting right with the built in flash, that's what I normally do. But with this new flash I would like to shoot in Manual like I do for everything else.. Any suggestions on settings, setup, past experiences to especially get the exposure correct.

change the degree angle (anywhere beteen 120 degrees to 160 degrees depending on how much light is in the room) up reduces red eye and decreases the white light highlight. The light bounces off the ceiling then down onto the subject rather than straight onto it. This will give a much warmer feel to the image. Also, for outside use with portraits, wedding photography etc, still use the flash. It removes unwated shadows.
