First Widlife lens

I have the 70-200 f/2.8L IS - even with a x1.4 TC, difficult to use on "birds" (wildlife?) ... besides ducks, I'm sick of shooting ducks (ones around my area see people as food providers so they come quacking).

I love the 70-200 for its FAST AF - the x1.4 makes it really "search". Plus, 280mm is really not long enough. I always thought it was my lack of "sneak ability" :)

I've been looking at Canon's 100-400L, and Sigma's 150-500.
$500 cheaper plus 100mm extra is hard to beat - have seen so many examples where results are the same, then see other examples where the 100-400 is just incredible

I would go with one of the lower end 300mm or 400mm. I think theyre around 1200 or 1000 each. the 300 is F4 the 400 is F5.6 i believe.

Personally I use an 80-400 but it is a Nikkor. I used to use my 28-300 but found 300mms to be limiting. Now Im in the camp of 400mms or better which is why im saving fro the Sigma 300-800. Unfortunately wild life shooting unless done in a zoo is very expensive.
