flash question

new guy, whats up yo.
straight to the point.
nikon d80.
getting flashes for bmx/skateboarding.
skyports or pw, which is better for off camera sync?
looking at buying one or two sunpak 555s if that makes a difference.

I have used a lot of different options for this and Pocket Wizards are hands down my favorite, although I haven't used skyports yet.

the reason i ask is because i have heard skyports work well and are cheaper. and i am in a money crunch.

Welcome aboard.

Pocket Wizards are the top choice for many pros. They are dependable and their range can't be beat.

I've heard plenty of good things about the SkyPorts as well, and they are significantly cheaper, so they might be a good option.

One thing to consider is the batteries. I believe that the Skyports use their own lithium battery while PWs use AA.

Those are definitely cheap. As far as being in the "works well" category, they are definitely not.

Yes that's true, I just thought I'd throw it out there since he mentioned a money crunch and these are very reasonably priced.

Cameras Etc. in Newark, Delaware on the north side of the U of D has Promasters that come with dedicated modules for use on different cameras for less buck. Other nicks of the woods oughtta have them as well.
