Exposed myself to the heat for about ten minutes. The only thing I could find was this fly. It's so hot that you can bake a pie in the mailbox.

Tamron 18-400mm with 68mm extension. Manual focus.

Very nice.
Actually I find the heat gives us more butterflies - if I had asbestos skin I would have loads of photos.
Saying that our heat is less than yours I guess. We only went to 104 F (40 C) and that was only one day.
Today it will be 24C/75 F

Ugly old flies are actually interesting when you get a good closeup, Jeff. Nice job.
Thanks!

Thanks! We've been hitting 108F/42C on a regular basis here, and I can only dream of 75F right now. We don't even dip below 80F at night. This morning we've had just enough rain to guarantee that this afternoon will be an absolute sauna when the mercury hits 104F.

Those temps are insane. I lived in The Woodlands for 3 years - not sure where you are in relation to that area. But I know how brutal it was in July/August around there.

Even your fly looks hot. ;) Nice macro!

Thanks!

That sounds awful - although we don't have air conditioning in houses - in offices and shops but in homes no. Sometimes I sleep in the lounge as it is cooler.

Thanks! We are just north of Dallas. I don't ever remember it getting this hot this early for this long. It has really curtailed my walks and nature photography. That fly was so hot, it didn't budge as I got the lens within inches of it. Houston has cooler temps right now, but higher humidity.

I imagine that is pretty miserable, especially on still days. I remember days when I lived in Germany, where it would get into the upper-80s, and every window would be open, and fans running, and still be uncomfortable, so I can't even imagine upper 90s or triple-digits. Stay safe and hydrated.
