Ha. This is a very broad range of answers. Funny. We tend to have a lot of house parties at my place (family stuff... get your heads out of the gutter, people 
) and I use a 28-100 very consistently for this. I intend to try the 50mm out next time, but I have had a number of cases with the 50mm where I'm leaning WAAAAAAAAAY back to try and get a shot in. The zoom is definitely very handy inside... toss an external flash on your camera and you don't have to worry so much about the low light. (In fact the 28-100 and the Sb-600 flash (nikon) have made for a beautiful series of pictures in a lot of indoor occasions for me)
